Alex Ray (student at Austin College):
Living in the German section of the Jordan Family language
House has, so far, been a unique and rewarding experience. Besides the high
quality amenities (each room has its own bathroom), the Language House has been
rewarding because of the immersion it provides. The best example of this is the
German housing teaching assistant, Ateeb. Ateeb is a special person in that he
has been raised in both the Pakistani and German cultures. Talking to Ateeb (in
all German of course), I have learned about both cultures along with getting to
know a great person. I have only lived in the Language House for three weeks,
but I have already begun to better understand outside cultures. I look forward
to more good times and learning in Austin College’s slice of Germany.
